Career Development Workshops for Artists
NEWS: Caroll Michels will teach a six-week course “Career Development for the Artist,” at the Ringling College of Art and Design, in Sarasota, Florida, in conjunction with the division of Continuing Studies and Special Programs. The course will be held each Thursday, beginning September 24 thru October 29 from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. Registration can be done online and will begin August 1, 2009. Caroll Michels presents lively and participatory three and six-hour workshops on important issues that impact a fine artist's career, including overcoming basic problems of launching and sustaining a career as an artist; preparing for the gallery system; exhibition and sales opportunitie outside of the gallery system; pricing artwork and related issues; developing Web site fine art portfolios; using blogs and social networking sites; grants, fellowships, and artist-in-residence programs; public relations and marketing tools; understanding and using the corporate art market; dealing with rejection -- and the overwhelm factor.
